This policy explains how Sognage (Pty) Ltd, of 304 Tungsten Rd, Randburg, Johannesburg (“the Organiser,” “we,” “us”), collects and uses personal information through this website, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

1. What we collect
Depending on how you interact with the site, we collect:
Sign-up form: your name and email address.
Ticket purchase: your name, email address, and phone number, plus whatever billing details our payment gateway requires to process payment.
Site usage: standard analytics data via Google Analytics (see Section 6).
We do not collect or store your full card number, expiry date, or CVV. Ticket sales run through Ecwid, our store platform, with card payments processed by PayFast — both PCI-DSS compliant. 3. Who we share it with
Ecwid (our store platform) and PayFast (our payment gateway), to process your ticket purchase.
Google, for form storage (Google Sheets) and site analytics (Google Analytics). Google may process this data outside South Africa. Where this happens, it is subject to Google’s own data protection commitments, which we consider provide an adequate level of protection as required under POPIA section 72.
Law enforcement or emergency services, only where required by law or necessary to protect someone’s safety.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with any other third party for their own marketing purposes.
4. How long we keep it
Sign-up list entries are kept until you unsubscribe, or for a reasonable period after the Festival for planning future events, after which they’re deleted.
Ticket and transaction records are kept as required for financial and tax record-keeping (generally up to five years), in line with South African tax legislation.
5. Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
Ask us what personal information we hold about you, and request a copy.
Ask us to correct or delete inaccurate or outdated information.
Object to us processing your information, or withdraw consent at any time (for example, unsubscribing from emails via the link in any message we send).
Lodge a complaint with us directly at az.oc.rianepotla@ofni, or with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we haven’t handled your information properly — inforegulator.org.za.
6. Cookies and analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it. Google Analytics uses cookies, which are small files stored on your device. You can block or delete these at any time through your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics specifically using Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Blocking cookies won’t stop you using the site or buying a ticket.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including HTTPS encryption on this site and restricted access to sign-up and ticketing data. No system is 100% secure, but we do not store card data ourselves precisely to minimise that risk.
8. Children
ALT. Open Air is an 18+ event. This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above.
